Kids’ Day at Gaia HQ

Posted on: April 23, 2010

In addition to Earth Day, yesterday was also Bring Your Child to Work Day. We had a lot of fun with the kids of Gaia Staffers yesterday!

The day started off with a kid/parent breakfast and a presentation of Gaia by our CEO. And the fun unraveled from there!

To kick off the fun, we had a science guy come in to do hands-on science experiments & activities: Mighty Magnets, Pretty Cool Putty, Don’t Be Dense, & Suck It Up. Here’s a pic of the science guy with one of his Mighty Magnets:

After a hearty lunch and boggling their minds with scientific awesomeness, they were subjected to a mass of reptiles, a tarantula, and a scorpion. They were pretty incredible! Here are just a few of the pics from the show:

From there, some of San Jose’s finest fire fighters came and gave presentations on fire safety & earthquake preparedness.

And finally, the ended with a hands-on lesson in growing food in your own backyard. They got to play with worms, plant seeds in a biodegradable pot that they made from newspaper, and created art sculptures with vegetables.

Overall, it was a great day at Gaia HQ for the little ones (and for us Staffers too). Rest assured, that good sleep was had by all after such a fun-filled day. 🙂
